The artist has participated in many exhibitions in Germany, France, Kenya, and Indonesia since the beginning of the 80s. His exhibition "Colour cuts" at the Brodac Gallery is his first solo show in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The collection of pictures is a mixture of recent and some older lino and woodcuts on acrylic glass combined with painting. The pictures are not dedicated to a specific subject — a mixture of scenes about bathers in the summertime in the Indian Ocean as well as motorcycle drivers or a view of everyday objects. The overall commonality of all pictures is the unique technique used to produce the images. To create his pictures, the artist combines special printing techniques and painting on acrylic glass. First, the subject is printed with oil paint from wood or linocut on the backside of a glass plate. The printing is done without a printing press, which gives the print a painterly quality — the glass plate is placed on top of the coloured printing block and pressed using the weight of the artist stepping on it. After printing, the artist applies oil, household, or acrylic paint to the parts of the glass not covered by colour, by dripping, rolling, throwing, or brushing until the whole glass is completely covered from behind with four to ten and more layers of paint. Since every copy of a subject is printed and painted in different colours, each one is actually an original. The show runs from Sunday 20 December to Tuesday 29 December 2020.
