///Artist/ Sonja Blum (USA) ///Live stream start/ 20:00 ART IN ISOLATION — During isolation, the gallery Brodac live streams the artist's work from their studio. We want to use the time of self-isolation to ask existential questions: Why are we here today and is there a unity of the world with the problem? What is the response of society to the global common crisis? How does this affect the common human in isolation? What is solidarity in times of crisis, what happens to solidarity after a state of emergency? What does life on the planet look like that can be destroyed with a single click? Do we need a new social contract and what does it look like? Will this crisis prompt us to demand more freedom and a more humane life circumstance or towards greater totalitarianism? ARTIST STATEMENT: I am an installation and performance artist, from Sarajevo and living and working in Brooklyn, NY. My inspiration often stems from the period of the 1990's system collapses and upheaval and examines how we come together and fall apart as collectives of individuals and societies. Framed between diametrically opposed forms of knowledge production — the scientific method, and intuitive bodywork and improvisation — I consider my art practice experiments in liberating what and how I/we know. I work in a free-form multimedia practice including writing, movement, performance, canvas collage, sculpture, and video. My research starts with consideration of memory as a fragmented set of images, words, feelings, and as yet undescribed components of experience. The content of memory is a contentious and political space, the content of which defines the imagination.
