VENÍ VE — audiovisual integration at Brodac — Raphael Reichl THE ARTIST: Raphael Reichl was born in Klosterneuburg, Austria. At 14 he decided to go to the Graphische in Vienna, an education specialized in graphic design and communication. After five years he finished his final exam with a diploma work about the Middle East conflict in Israel; with his team of two photographers he produced a book about youth life in Israel and the West Bank and received seven international honourable mentions, including one of the most beautiful books in Austria 2013 and Rookie of the Year. In 2014 he completed another year of the Masterclass at the Graphische; the final diploma work was exhibited at the Albertina in Vienna. Afterwards he studied anthropology at the University of Vienna for a year, and in July 2015 interrupted his studies to do social service abroad in Nicaragua at the Casa de los Tres Mundos. Back in Vienna he entered the film school for independent and art films Friedl Kubelka and works on books, photography and film. EXHIBITION VENÍ VE: "I'm dreaming, I'm floating away. I try to focus. I get a lot of influence, lights, noise, smell. Subtlety. I don't have to express anything." — Raphael Reichl "I arrived on 19 July 2015. I exactly recognize my first situation when I got into a car with two volunteers who picked me up from the airport. We got immediately into incredible traffic. I looked out of the window — there were only buses full of people around me. When I arrived, I hardly spoke Spanish, so I started learning. I paid a lot of attention to listening to and observing the Nicaraguans. Step by step I learned more about the culture and got more used to the accent. I would say that photography helped me pass through the process of learning. I would have forgotten a lot of situations if I had not taken those photos. The exhibition is about my progress getting to know a new culture and the stories I went through."
